Does This Mean I Have to Start Going Out on Friday Nights?
From tvguide.com:
Fox is playing it safe with its new Friday lineup, which is tanking in the ratings. The network is moving Wonderfalls to Thursday nights beginning this week and benching Playing It Straight until summer, when it will be relaunched. So, it's back in the closet for all those cowboys!

It's Nice to See Somebody Doing Something With His Life
Congrats to Mike Hall for winning ESPN's Dream Job. And to think...I was his first producer back at KOMU.

The Fam's Visit: A Recap
Overall, good times had by all. While I won't miss the sleeping on the futon, the crying baby waking me up at 6:30 a.m. or the lack of a hot shower, I already miss the relatives. Here are a few highlights from their visit:
•I realized I knew this city better than I thought. I only got lost a few times, and only really lost once.
•My nephew is adorable. He just got glasses, and he had this little yellow rain jacket he wore most of the time. Once I get my pictures developed, I'll let you see for yourself.
•Despite sounding boring, the Museum of Flight kicks serious ass. I also give mad props to the Space Needle. (I've lived here almost seven months, and I took my first trip up that thing this weekend.) I also enjoyed the Children's Museum, though those kids didn't have to cry so hard when I pushed them down so I could get a better spot in line. Disappointing: Pike Place Market, the size of Seattle's Aquarium.
•It rained most of the time, but today was gorgeous, so we managed to squeeze in some of the best views in the city.
•My sister seemed to get a bigger kick out of visiting any Starbucks in Seattle than just about anything else.

Starstruck at Starbucks
The weekend anchor from the FOX station was behind me in line at Starbucks this morning. Even though I work in this business, I kept staring as if he were a movie star.

Mark Your Calendars!
Watch out KC metropolitan area and CoMo! I'm headed your way in less than 2 weeks.

The Baby's Here!
My sister, brother-in-law and nephew are here! If I ever posted to this thing, I'd say, "Don't expect any new posts for the next few days." But since I never post anymore, I'll say, "Expect the same ol' same ol'..."

Actual Note From My Grandma
Dear Scott,
Now, is this card "a thing of beauty" or not! There is a much used line—"a thing of beauty is a joy forever." But I can't recall from whence it comes! (How do you like that word 'whence'?) I loved English Literature in high school and used to love quoting from Shakespeare and such. Senior year we had a student teacher—a dear boy really—& he hated us and the feeling was mutual and if we saw him on Main Street during lunch hour we would quote from McBeth (how was that spelled—Macbeth probably) "Is this a dagger I see before mine eyes?" He hated us—I still laugh just thinking about it! But that is when I decided not to be a teacher!! Love you My Pioneer Boy!*
Grandma

*Pioneer Boy is my grandma's new nickname for me. Apparently, no one told her the West was settled a while back...or that my cousin still lives in Alaska.

Reason I Will Never be on Jeopardy
When they introduced the category "Vocabulary" on tonight's show, I thought to myself, "Vocabulary...that's not a real word."

File This Under Hungry
Burritofication sure takes a long time.

File This Under Really Hungry
The rough transcription of a conversation too good to NOT blog about:

Scott: Okay, I gotta go. I'm hungry. I haven't eaten since 6:30 this morning. That's a long time.
Julie: That is a long time. Are you hungry enough to eat a baby? (An old crowd favorite Scottism.)
Scott: I'm hungry enough to eat a toddler. When you go to the baby restaurant, instead of saying "super-size it," you say "toddler-size it."
Julie: And if you're really hungry you say "kid-size it."
Scott: Which is weird because most places that means smaller, but at a baby restaurant it means bigger.

Question I Think We're All Asking Ourselves Today
Whatever happened to Ricky Martin?

A Letter
Dear Count Chocula,

I wish your marshmallows didn't get soggy so quickly. Please do something to remedy this, so I can once again enjoy your cereal. Perhaps Lucky the Leprechaun can offer you some tips.

Sincerely,
Scott Collins

A Month Made for Me
According to my grocery circular, March is Frozen Food Month. The only food-themed month that might, and I stress might, be better would be Cereal Month.

I Knew This Day Was Coming

I received the following e-mail the other day:

"Dear user  of  Mizzou.edu,

Your e-mail account will be disabled because of improper using in next
three days,  if you are  still wishing to  use it, please, resign your
account information."

I love how they call it "improper using" as if I have been hacking into the system to still use my account.

Sigh. An end to an era.
