weird
walking home from starbucks* tonight, i passed a woman at a bus stop drinking milk straight from a one-gallon jug. just tiltin' it back and chuggin'.

*yes, i can walk to a starbucks from apt. in fact, i could pretty easily walk to two. how seattle.

there's something to be said for subtlety
the other day, i drove past a guy with a sign reading "george bush sucks saudi dick." classy.

Shred-a-Thon? What shred-a-thon?
the dream is dead. i started that damn thing so I'd have something to post about each day. but like most things in my life, i failed to follow through.

i couldn't lose
i went to my first mariners game last week. got free tickets from work. good seats, too. and to top it all off, they played the royals. no matter which team won, my team won. (for the record, the royals won.)

added bonus: it started to rain during the game, so i got to experience safeco with the roof open and the roof closed. score.

'round these parts, we spell gullible c-o-l-l-i-n-s
my family makes fun of me because i once asked if luckytown was a real town in missouri. yes, the town in all those Missouri lottery ads. stop laughing. we all know missouri has some towns with peculiar names (i.e. Peculiar, MO), and the post office in the original commercial looked very real.

but i'm not alone in being gullible. i convinced my sister that people in seattle call sandwiches "sammiches." there are a lot of things here with native american names. i told her that was one of them.

and just the other day, my brother fell pretty hard. i was telling him about my experience at the mariners game, and i said that at the end of each game, ichiro takes off his pants and runs around the field. i convinced him it was a japanes tradition. he was about to tell my parents until i saved him the embarassment and told him i was just kidding. then, i had him pass the phone to my dad so i could tell him what a sucker his youngest son is.

Shred 'em if you got 'em: Day 3
Old financial aid/scholarship information, including my application for the American Royal scholarship. Two blog readers should take particular note.
Dave, Minter the Mentor's contact info is now shredded.
Kara, remember when we went to the horse show?

The Super-Duper Shred-a-Thon 2004: Day 2
Old paystubs from MU, the Gap and KSHB. Yeah, it's been awhile since I worked at any of those places.

Just a Reminder
None of you have visited me yet.

Let the Great Shred-a-Thon Begin
Some of you may know I have a tendency to keep things. Especially papers. For example, if you were in my FIG freshman year, I have your parents' address from that time. Yep, never threw out the original FIG roster. It's just one of the thousands, if not millions, of peices of paper in my filing cabinet or various boxes that i've never unpacked.

Well, that all changes today. I've begun the Great Shred-a-Thon 2004. (Note how it starts about the same time as the Olympics. Coincidence? I think not!) From now until I stop, I will purge my paper possessions with the help of my new paper shredder. Every day, I'll shred a different group of papers until eventually, I'll have reduced my clutter. No more hanging on to pay stubs from high school. No more keeping receipts that are four years old in hopes of really palancing my checkbook one day. Nope. They're all gone.

And you, the blog reader will be able to track my progress each day, right here (an idea i blatantly ripped off from kristin.)

Today: All my old bills from 1334C.

reasons i hate cold stone creamery
1. it feels so corporate. let's be honest. i'm corporate america's whore. just look in my closet. and one of the things i miss most about missouri is panera. but ice cream.... ice cream should be pure and simple and non-franchised.
2. the line. it is always so long. and it moves so slowly.
3. the up-sell. no, i don't want a "love it." i know it's only 40 cents more, but i want a "like it." and just for asking, i'm never, ever going to buy a "love it."
4. the employees. don't you just want to punch them? i swear, i think cold stone breeds those creepy bastards. and they always look at you like they deserve a tip. i'll tell you who gets tips: employees at doc's, not you punks. here's a tip: work in a real ice cream shop.
5. it's just not the same as a regular ice cream shop.

and yet, i still keep going there. that says something for proximity.

remember when summer used to mean something?
sigh.

on an up note
my cap'n crunch's crunchberries turns my milk blue. it's a good way to start the day.

you might be wondering where i've been
well, i've been watching a lot of television these days, so i haven't had time to post. i'm going through a bit of a reality renaissance lately. i don't think i've watched this much reality tv on a consistent basis since my trashy dating show infatuation.

what's on my reality tv platter...or tv tray, if you will? well, road rules for one. i'm a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to this show—i never watched an episode before last season. and while this cast isn't as entertaining as last year's bunch, nor as good at completing their missions (c'mon they've lost three people now!), it's still as addictive as crack cocaine.

i've also fallen in love with andy dick's the assistant. this show has to be the funniest thing on television. i'm not sure what's the best part: the blatant ripoffs of other reality shows, andy dick's manic behavior, or the fact the contestants take everything so seriously. i've never really been an andy dick fan before, but this show won me over fast.

finally, i give a big thumbs up to amish in the city. the fine folks at upn (who knew this network was even still on?) have served up a winner. it manages to be entertaining without exploiting the amish at all (okay...too much). instead, it exploits the "city kids." and really, they're pretty dumb, so they deserve it.

i have not watched the ashlee simpsonshow. ashlee, you are not your sister. and it is painfully obvious.

tv series coming soon to dvd...and hence my collection, as well
saved by the bell: the college years
Everwood (season 1)
The O.C. (season 1)
